In November we were visited by Lauren from the Greater Manchester Fire Service Education Department. Our students were shown footage of real events that happen to young people during bonfire season. They explored the hazards of fireworks and how to stay safe even when they aren't taking part in events and they also talked about actions to take in an emergency situation. Our students responded well to the discussion and had lots of examples to talk about. The feedback from Lauren was that the students handled themselves very maturely.
We now have further plans to access the Fire Safety House in Bury where our students will visit and look further into fire safety in the home. We will also be accessing the driving simulator which educates students to drive safely as part of the local authority's fire safety and crime prevention programme.
