Extra-curricular English Department Trip

Friday 24th Mar 2023

As an extra-curricular English Department trip, eight students visited The Palace Theatre in Manchester to watch a matinee performance of Disney’s The Lion King.

Both staff and students were excited to see such a world-renowned theatre production, with one student saying he was “so gassed to be going!” Many had seen the animated version and, more recently, the live action version but were not sure what to expect from the theatre production. Some said they were expecting a pantomime, others said that they expected “just people in costumes”. We were treated to a spectacular show, with staff and students totally amazed at how the production was put together. (The giraffes in particular were amazing!)

The students had a fantastic experience and behaved brilliantly throughout the performance. We even bought a ‘school pet’. J

It was also nice to get some positive feedback about our students from others in the audience around us:

Good morning,

I just would like to say how well your student's behaviour was last week; they were sat next to us (row R). In our party, we had our mum, who is 91 years old, and your students were very careful as they passed her.

I hope they all enjoyed such a phenomenal performance; I am sure they will get so much out of it for their English work.

What a fantastic experience for both students and staff.

Keep up the fantastic work!

Yours sincerely,

K Thornton
