The Clifton Centre Football Team

Monday 6th Nov 2023

The Clifton Centre Football Team produced a fantastic display of football in their recent 7-7 draw against Manchester PRU. The game was held at our home pitch of Manor Five`s in Kearsley and involved 7 students.

Clifton went into an early lead with goals from JA and LC. Manchester PRU then fought back, scoring 3 quick fire goals. Clifton reached half-time leading 4-3 with some great defending from the centre back partnerships of MS, ES and HS managing to keep the Manchester strikers at bay.

The second half was just as entertaining as the first half with Clifton scoring again through HH and JA. Moment of the match came when MS produced an outstanding piece of skill by flicking the ball over a Manchester defender`s foot and narrowly missing the bottom corner with a great strike.

LT and JA worked tirelessly in midfield and upfront and gave the Manchester midfield little time to settle on the ball. Both were involved in numerous assists and enabled the Clifton Centre to maintain their lead. With time running out Manchester PRU got a second wind and produced some magic of their own and scored 3 goals to put the Clifton Centre one goal behind going into the final minutes of the game. Clifton then responded with a long range strike from JA, who managed to score the equaliser in the dying moments of the game.

Man of the match was very difficult to pick as all the players excelled. However, HH was chosen as the Clifton Centre man of the match. His non-stop running and pass selection were outstanding and he also finished the game off having scored 2 goals.
