Science and Industry museum

Wednesday 6th Mar 2024

We recently visited the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester with a mixed group of year 10 and year 11 students. Our aim was to give students the opportunity to explore the Operation Ouch and the Power Up exhibitions on show at the museum. Our students started the journey with the mission to find out what happens to food when we eat (following the KS4 Biology curriculum). Students  explored the role of each organ in the digestive journey through interactive games and challenges, fun facts and fascinating objects from the Science Museum Group's collection. The last part of the day was   spent  at Power Up gaming space, students  explored video games from the past five decades and tried out over a hundred different consoles with the ultimate hands-on gaming experience. They played famous video games  from Pong to Pacman, Sonic to Street Fighter and Mario to Minecraft, plus a selection of games created in Manchester.
