As part of their GCSE History and Biology studies, students from the Clifton Centre recently visited the Thackary Medical Museum in Leeds.
Firstly, students took a tour through Disease Street, a model of a Victorian slum street to see how difficult it was to avoid the hazards and stay healthy. Students then completed a self-led trail called ‘Bugs, blood and drugs’ to test their knowledge of GCSE Biology while also encouraging engagement within the museum galleries. Lastly, students attended a workshop based in a Victorian operating theatre, where they learnt about Victorian surgery including the smells and difficulties surgeons and patients faced and also looked at genuine case notes to discover the fate of Hannah Dyson. All this information will really help them with their GCSE History and Biology studies.
All students and staff had an enjoyable day, where students behaviour and conduct was commendable.
